Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, paid a heartfelt tribute to his dear friend, Cedric Babu, during his burial ceremony at Kamengo in Mpigi District. Accompanied by his wife Charlotte, Gen. Kainerugaba described Cedric as a loyal and reliable friend who could be trusted in any circumstance.

A Lifelong Bond

The General recounted fond memories of their friendship, which dates back to their time in exile in Nairobi in the 1980s. After a brief separation, they reconnected at St. Mary’s College Kisubi in 1988, forging an unbreakable bond. “We became great, great friends,” Gen. Kainerugaba said, highlighting Cedric’s exceptional talent as a sportsman, particularly in tennis.

A Patriot’s Legacy

Gen. Kainerugaba revealed that Cedric had visited him at his Entebbe home just days before his passing, sharing plans for his future and his desire to contribute to Uganda’s development through active involvement in politics. “Cedric was a patriot. He loved Uganda and was willing to sacrifice a lot for his country,” the CDF said, noting his friend’s remarkable leadership roles in the Patriotic League of Uganda and his bid for Kampala Central MP in 2021.

A Promise to Remember

Gen. Kainerugaba assured that Cedric’s friends would continue to engage with his children, honoring his legacy. He expressed gratitude to Cedric’s parents, Francis Babu and Olive Kigongo, for their care and support during his hospitalization.

A Celebration of Life

Friends and relatives gathered to eulogize Cedric as a loving and caring person who will be deeply missed. The funeral was attended by prominent national leaders, past and present. Cedric Babu is survived by his wife and three sons.
