Kyabazinga of Busoga His Majesty William Wilberforce Kadumbula Gabula Nadiope Iv ,Katuukilo of Busoga Dr. Muvawala and other dignitaries mark the 11th Coronation .

By Samuel Mwesigwa : Busoga – The Katukilo of Busoga, Owek. Dr. Joseph Muvawala Nsekere, addressing thousands of Basoga during the historic 11th Coronation, delivered a powerful message on land protection, political conduct, and regional development.

Katukilo Issues Strong Warning on Kyabazinga Land

He reminded the people that the Kyabazinga is the custodian of Busoga land and does not sell land. In a firm directive to those attempting to exploit the community, he said:

“I now direct the Permanent Secretary to work with the police to arrest all Basoga who have forged land papers. We are tired of being stepped on.”

Dr. Muvawala went further with a strong warning:

“Let me warn all Basoga clearly: anyone attempting to forge, sell, or misuse Kyabazinga land will face the full force of the law. The Kingdom will not tolerate exploitation or deceit. Leave all land matters to the Kingdom and the Government—any interference will be met with strict action.”

Assurance to Rightful Landowners

He emphasized that all land matters should be handled through the Kingdom and in collaboration with the central Government, and he called on rightful landowners to remain calm and trust the legal process. He also assured the public that land entrusted to institutions is being used effectively and responsibly, serving the people of Busoga well.

This comes at a time when, weeks ago, a section of Basoga who claimed ownership of a portion of Kyabazinga land invited the State Minister of Land, Dr. Sam Mayanja. Following their meeting, the minister issued directives, including arrests of certain individuals within the Kingdom. Dr. Muvawala has since nullified all these directives, assuring all rightful settlers on Kyabazinga land to continue with their peaceful occupancy.

On the broader issue of land in Uganda, which remains a contentious and unresolved question in many regions, Dr. Muvawala assured Basoga: “In Busoga, all will be well. While other areas continue to wrestle with land conflicts, Busoga will not be caught in that mess.”

Political Season: Katukilo Urges Responsible Participation

Addressing the ongoing political season, the Katukilo urged citizens to participate in elections responsibly. “If you win, celebrate your victory. If you do not succeed, come back and continue to serve Busoga. Do not drag politics into the Kingdom,” he said.

Dr. Muvawala also thanked the President of Uganda for the promises made to Busoga, noting that the contractor for the Iganga–Kamuli road has already started work. He reminded the President about the Umbercourt–Mbulamuti road, urging urgent attention to ensure swift completion. He further thanked the President for supporting the coronation function and assured Basoga that all presidential promises would be implemented.

Acknowledging Past Leadership and Youth Call to Service

The Katukilo highlighted the President’s generous contribution of 80 million shillings to support the celebrations and asked all Basoga to applaud and appreciate this gesture.

He also commended his predecessor, Prof. Balunwa, for laying the foundations that have contributed to Busoga’s growth. He called upon the youth to serve the Kingdom courageously and without fear, dedicating themselves to development and the welfare of the community.

The coronation event marked a significant moment in Busoga’s history, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to land protection, good governance, and community development..
