The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has disqualified Congo from the 2024 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) following an eligibility dispute, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Equatorial Guinea complained, alleging that Congo had fielded an ineligible player, Mankou Nguembete Japhet Eloi, during their qualifier matches.

It was revealed that Congo failed to provide a valid license to clear the player for participation.

As a result, CAF has declared both the home and away matches forfeited in favour of Equatorial Guinea, awarding them a 3-0 victory and a spot in the tournament.

Additionally, the Congolese Football Association has been fined $10,000, with the amount due within 60 days.
